ACT Rules and Regulations What You HAVE to Know SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Because the ACT is such a high-stakes test, the folks at ACT, Inc. have implemented a series of rules to ensure that there is no cheating and that all students have as close to the same test-taking experience as possible. Before you take the ACT, you should familiarize yourself with these important rules. You donââ¬â¢t want to start using some scratch paper that you brought and then be dismissed from the test and have your score canceled. Know the rules so you donââ¬â¢t find yourself in such a situation. In this article, Iââ¬â¢ll explain the rules for the ACT and the consequences for breaking them. The Purpose of ACT Rules There are rules for the ACT to prevent cheating and ensure the same test-taking experience for all students. Through these rules, the ACT folks are trying to create a fair, standardized test-taking experience for everyone who takes the ACT. If certain people are given an advantage, that could affect college admissions and future ACT scores. Now that we know why the rules exist, let's take an in-depth look at the rules you need to follow when you take the ACT. All the ACT Rules You Should Know You should review the prohibited behavior during your ACT. Also, these are the items you must remember on test day. Let's go over both sets of rules in depth.I'll emphasize the important regulations to make sure there's no confusion. Key Guidelines You Must Follow on Test Day Be on time! You wonââ¬â¢t be admitted to the test if you're late. The reporting time is 8:00 AM, but I advise that you arrive at your testing center by 7:30. When I took the ACT, there was a long line that moved rather slowly to enter the testing center. I showed up at 7:30 and entered the room I took my test in shortly before 8:00. Make sure you're only working on the designated section. If youââ¬â¢re taking the math test and realize that you messed up on an English question, thereââ¬â¢s nothing you can do at that point. Going back to a previous section or looking ahead in your test booklet is considered cheating. Donââ¬â¢t talk about exam content at any time.This is a tough rule to follow, but donââ¬â¢t talk about specific questions during breaks or after the test. The ACT doesnââ¬â¢t want you sharing information about test questions because questions are often reused. I know youââ¬â¢ll be tempted to talk about that annoying reading passage with your friend, but donââ¬â¢t, especially at the test center. A strict proctor can cancel your score for doing that. When you arrive at the test center, turn your phone off and put it in your backpack. If you look at your phone or if it makes any noise during the test, you can be dismissed and have your score canceled. You can post an Instagram pic of what you wore to the test after you get home. This is probably obvious, but don't do anything that can be considered cheating. Cheating isn't only unethical, but also you don't want to face the consequences if you get caught. What You Must Bring to the Test Admission ticket - You must have your admission ticket on test day. Photo identification- Make sure to bring an acceptable photo ID. You won't be admitted to the exam if you don't have your ticket and proper ID. Bring an acceptable ID to the ACT What You Should Bring No. 2 pencils with good erasers- On the ACT, you're not supposed to use mechanical pencils or pens. Don't be that person anxiously asking for a pencil right before the test starts. Also, a good eraser is likely to come in handy. A permitted calculator- You can't use calculators that make noise, have a QWERTY keyboard, or use a power cord. You can't use calculator apps on a cell phone or laptop. Check out this page for the specific ACT rules on calculators. A watch- I recommend using a watch to help yourself keep track of time on each section. The proctor may forget to remind you when time is running out on a section, and the clock in the room may not be working. However, make sure that the watch you bring doesnââ¬â¢t make noise and that the alarm is off. If an alarm goes off during the test, you can be dismissed and have your score canceled. Miscellaneous items- Here are some things you should bring that will make your test-taking experience more comfortable and less stressful:a backpack, snacks and water for breaks, extra batteries for your calculator, and extra pencils and erasers.You may not be allowed to eat in the testing room, but itââ¬â¢s a long test so itââ¬â¢s good to refuel during breaks. What You Shouldn't Bring Any electronic device other than your watch and cell phone- If youââ¬â¢re seen with a laptop or personal computer, that will be considered cheating. Make sure youââ¬â¢re not using any audio or video recording devices. That will also be considered cheating. (Also remember that your phonemust be put away.) Scratch paper- If an exception applies and youââ¬â¢re allowed to use scratch paper, you may only use paper that ACT has authorized or supplied to you. A dictionary or thesaurus- The only resource you're allowed to use is a permitted calculator to help you with math. Possible Consequences for Rules Violations The consequences for violating any of these rules can vary. Often the consequence will depend on the strictness of your proctor or test center. If you don't have proper ID or your admission ticket, you may not be admitted to the test. If youââ¬â¢re caught violating other rules, you can be dismissed from the test and possibly have your score canceled. In certain situations, you can have your score withheld if there is suspected cheating. In the most extreme cheating situations, the ACT can even take legal action. World War I Causes and Outcomes Essay The causes of World War I included a growing rate of militarism, which was accompanied by an arms race. Also imperialism, as economics and fighting for colonies among the European nations were prevalent. Alliances such as The Triple Alliance and The Triple Entente also started the war along side nationalism. The effects of the war included 8.5 million deaths just from soldiers, 16.1 million in total, higher taxes, rationing of food and other products, a propaganda war, and famine. Germany was blamed for the war so they owed millions of dollars in reparations to many different countries so Germany had to skyrocket their taxes and began a famine. Personally, I believe that World War I could have been prevented if it werent for certain actions. For example, if Austria-Hungary had negotiated seriously with Serbia in July 1914, war could have been avoided. However, Germany egged Austria-Hungary on to be completely unreasonable. It turned out to be the result of a hundred little pressures all building up until eventually it just exploded. Also, if it werent for the three alliances it could have possibly been avoided. I would say that World War I was justified in the fact that Germany was trying to take over Europe in a very bad and hostile way so they had to be stopped. Its hard to say that a war that caused millions of deaths was justice but when you think about it, they had no right to take over Europe and wouldve hurt and killed many innocent civilians in the process. Germany ended up paying their debt to the war by owing reparations and money so in another sense it was justified.

Eulogy for Daughter I would like to thank you all for coming to Arlyn's funeral. I am truly touched that you care enough to show your support for us and your respect for Arlyn this way. During the past few days, many of our friends and family have come to our home to show their love for us and for Arlyn. I have been especially moved by the fact so many of her teachers and principals have shown up and cried with us. I am also touched by the love her young friends had for her. Our memories of this sad time in our lives will therefore not all be bad. But now, I would like to talk with you a little about my daughter, Arlyn Maria Johnson, who was born on Wednesday January 12, 1980 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, the most beautiful little girl I had ever seen. On Wednesday, August 7th, Arlyn ate lunch at home, acting normally. I noticed she didn't eat a lot, but it was no big deal. Afterwards, she showed us a dress she had bought, presumably to wear in Misty Smith's wedding. Then, Arlyn said she wanted to go visit friends and left the house. A few minutes later, 3 miles from our home, Arlyn held a rifle to her head and pulled the trigger. She left no note. How does a child who seemed to have everything going for her end up this way? Arlyn had a family that loved her infinitely. She was beautiful and intelligent; her sense of humor was remarkable. Arlyn was kind, a friend to anyone who would let her into his or her life. She had a part-time job as a waitress at Quincy's, which she enjoyed. Arlyn had accepted admission to Tulane University in New Orleans and the week before she died, she shared her schedule of fall courses with me enthusiastically. I reviewed these facts over and over in my mind, trying to discover why she would not see how lucky she was, but I could not find an answer. From the time she was a little girl, Arlyn has brought joy and laughter into the lives of others. When she was little, she sucked her thumb. She was nurturing; she carried her teddy bear with her everywhere. One of her greatest pleasures was dressing up in beautiful long dresses; she dreamed of being Miss America one day.

Reaction time Essay
Back crawl is different to most strokes because you cannot see where you are going. I know that the skill backstroke is a weakness of my performance because my coach informs me that I have a weak leg kick action. If your leg kick is weak it can make your body position fall slightly diagonally into the water. He tells me I need to bend my knees more and flex my ankles when kicking. My arm action provides most of the power, as my arms make circling actions as they move in and out of the water. Overall the arm action is good but I need to reach and stretch more into every stroke. Also I drop my head forwards into the water and donââ¬â¢t hold it back enough. This can make my body position sink, therefore I need to lift my hips up and make sure my head is looking up instead of down, consequently the overall efficiency would be improved. Also as a part of my backstroke technique, my backstroke tumble turns are a weakness in my performance. I know this because I have had video analysis and it shows that sometimes I do to many arm pulls into the turn on my front, where as your only supposed to do one. Therefore my arm action is too soon, and I need to do less front arm pulls. In the somersault part of the tumble turn, the overall rotation is not fast enough, because my body position isnââ¬â¢t in a tight enough tuck shape. I need to kick harder with my legs so that I rotate and flip faster. When I glide off the wall in a streamline position my butterfly leg action is weak, therefore I donââ¬â¢t get enough distance underwater and sometimes I donââ¬â¢t even reach the flags. The overall efficiency of the tumble turn is slow and not fluent. Strategy/Tactic Weaknesses: Building up through out a 800m/ Long-distance race. When I swim long distance races I find it hard to increase my pace through out the race therefore a maintain the same speed. I know this tactic is a weakness in my performance because I know am more of a sprint/middle distance swimmer, and also I prefer to take part in these events.à Components of Fitness Weaknesses:à The component of fitness speed is a weakness in my performance because it is proven that in fitness testing I have scored only average. In swimming speed is the ability to exert maximum muscular contraction instantly in an explosive burst of movements, example a sprint start of the diving blocks. You need speed more when your swimming sprint races example 50m ,100m races. There is a significant degree of technique when trying to build up speed. Itââ¬â¢s all about a mix of breathing, arm and feet movements, but you must have good muscle force behind before you can increase your speed. There is the fact that some people are just born with an ability to go faster than others. Whilst you can train faster you might never be as fast as your training partner, as they may have a different muscle composition that theyââ¬â¢ve inherited. This will in itself help them go faster. So speed is most important in sprint races and starts. Another weakness in my performance is the fitness component, reaction time. Reaction time is being able to respond quickly to a stimulus. It important in many sports though it can be measured. Simple reaction time is the time taken between a stimulus and movement e.g., sprint start off a diving block. For example at the start of a swimming race the official signals a gun or a type of noise that indicates you to start the race, you have to respond quickly to this. Therefore reaction time is essential at the start of a race. I know that reaction time is a weakness in my performance because it is proven that in fitness testing a have scored below average. So when I combine my reaction time in swimming to the start of a race, I am slower at reacting to the starters gun. Therefore this is something I need to improve on.

Albert Banduraââ¬â¢s Social Learning Theory describes the process through which people acquire new info, forms of behavior, or attitudes from others firsthand or vicariously. The likelihood of a behavior presenting itself will rely on the amount of reinforcement it receives and the value that the individual associates to it. While some behavior may be rewarded, others may produce unfavorable responses. An individual will learn from the consequences of these actions and when a similar situation arises, they will alter their behavior according to what was most successful in the past. Through the Social Learning Theory, one can absorb new behaviors from others or one can form attitudes toward something that can in turn influence behavior. Finally, but not limited to, gender linked-behaviors can be attributed to the Social Learning Theory. After learning their gender-linked behaviors at home, children are enforced further by their peers and school administration. As a whole, are behavior is one of the factors on which we are judged by and are appreciated for.
